This was a house
That contained all the joys
And sorrows of many
People who lived in it.
And this house was a home
Where the walls were immaculate
And painted with the gods of the masses
And it smelt of incense and sex
And self-righteousness and burnt meals
When their lives all fell apart.
The tears of laughter and pain fell on the creaky wooden floors
And it glowed with every sunrise
As the flowers bloomeed and withered
And bloomed again the next spring.
But this home is old now.
Its modern deities are growing cracks
On their faces as they stare folornly out the window
The music has faded, the tears have died away
And it is left merely a shell
As it always was
A house.

i wrote this at a birthday party i attended, at a restaurant where the walls were old and cracked.
i would like to dedicate it to the girl whose party it was, isley, for letting me come to her party and lending me her notebook.
